That looks to me like an ad service called infolinks which is built into sites for money

Some websites do use this type of ad integration. It's not always adware. I am 100% sure I don't have any of such and I still see those type of links here and there on a few specific websites, if I disable all my ad-blocking solutions (host file, router firewall and adblock in browser).

While some sites make use of advertising this way, I've noticed this in previous streams as well. Though I still wouldn't say it's proof Linus has adware...

 

I'm sure Linus would know if he had adware.
