R9 390 CF or 980ti or wait for pascal?

loubot1

I know you guys have probably had this thread a lot of times before, but I'm not sure on what to do after seeing the other threads. I will be gaming at 1440p and will want ultra/high at 60fps. I can easily just get one 390 then buy another one, but if the 980ti is much better, I can just wait and save. I have also heard that pascal is coming out in 2016, so I guess I can just buy one of those GPUs instead of the 980ti.

wat do?

Dual 390' s will beat a 980 Ti, but a single card is always better as some games don't even support CrossFire or SLI. If you can wait for Pascal, I'd say it could be worth it.

R9 390 CF > 980 Ti in terms of raw power.
980 Ti is more practical.

Waiting for Fury X2 (Gemini) might be a better bet since it's due in a month whereas Pascal is due in Q3 2016 (for gaming cards) and Q1 2016 (for Quadros)

While twin 390s would have more raw power, I think a single 980 TI is a better idea. It would be compatible with more games now and in the future. if you want a second one you can always do an SLI configuration later.

So the wait to pascal is like a year. With tech you can always be waiting for the next best thing. Grab the 980ti. If you need more horsepower in the future you could get another and go Sli. The 390 would get you a little more FPS but at a lot higher power consumption and heat output.
