Need help buying a new monitor

Basically, I'll be using it mostly for gaming and other media but I am quite interested graphic design at the moment so possibly a monitor that is also suitable for that sort of work.

 

I'm not too interested in an uber gaming monitor because they're crazy expensive and probably not as versatile as a generally good monitor that isn't terrible for gaming too. On the other hand I'm not looking for a super-duper pro monitor for my, currently, pretty casual interest in design, just something that doesn't have horrible colour reproduction.

 

Oh, and if anyone knows of a great deal somewhere for a decent monitor let me know!

 

 

Current PC:

Monitor: 22" 1680x1050 TN that only supports VGA

CPU: i5-4690k

GPU: GTX 970 2xSLI

(So you know what res. to suggest.)
