Ok, so after two failed attempts to install the new Crimson drivers (I was getting half the performance in games) I want to try it again. 

 

What steps should I take to give my PC the best chance at not screwing up the driver install?

It is not called "Nvidia ddu". It's called "Display Driver Uninstaller". Or "DDU" for short.
