I think I am going to just do a complete build re-haul early next year. Only thing I'm keeping from my old rig is my Define s. What do ya guys think? :)

Edit: Swapped out a m.2 120gb to 2.5" 250gb!

Looks solid

Thanks. Just deciding since I should be able to afford a complete build rehaul before I leave for uni mine as well. No idea how long until I'd be able to get a single upgrade once I am paying for real college, not a community one. :P

Why 2x4? You'll have 16GB as a maximum storage as long as your motherboard doesn't change.

I don't see myself needing anything more than 16gb. Besides ram is a pretty cheap upgrade later down the road if I need more. And if a stick fails I'd rather have 4gb than none.

Looks pretty awesome to me man. If you even plan on crossfiring (as I see your board can do that) I would recommend getting a higher wattage psu.

Also, I think it's interesting that you choose the M.2 version of the 850 evo. Is there any reason you prefer that to the 2.5" drive form?

If I'm not mistake the M.2 are faster than 2.5" form factor. Also I like the fact I can just pop it into the motherboard. Seeing as my case doesn't have a ton of hard drive storage why take one up when I can use my motherboard? :D

Edit: I'm glad I checked benchmarks as it is apparent I was wrong! So with that I will change it over to the 2.5" form factor!

R9 390 too overkill for that get an 1440P do you like IPS?

The value of this is way better than Skylake stuff....

-snip-

The reason for going with skylake is because I am doing a build from the ground up. An r9 390 will last me much longer on an 1080p display than 1440p. If I was simply doing some minor upgrades then sure I'd just go with 1150 stocket. But the 1151 socket gives me a better "upgrade path" so to speak. Eventually everyone will be on DDR4 memory and I'd rather switch over now while I can afford too. Besides, I can always grab a 1440p display after I finish my build. Nothing saying I need one with the build. A display is the easiest upgrade someone can do.

Note that your given PSU has 2 more 'protections' "SCP" AND "OTP"

Short sircuit protection and  Over temperature protection.

Those 2 arent important like Over temp?? it has a FAN just make sure not on a carpet or anything

I refuse to get an asus amd card. I've heard horror stories about them. Hence why the nitro. Psu I like the suggestion and I will keep my eyes open as the date gets closer. Was sandisk the ssd that they pulled a switch a roo on the internals from the review copies to what consumers got? If so I'm just not going to support a company like that.

Asus for amd cards are the worst. For nvidia they are fine.

I think that state is BS...

It is how they cool their Vram. Sapphire is the EVGA to amd cards. Which is why I am going with it. I've had sapphire cards and never had an issue with it. I'd rather go with a brand I know is the main producer of amd cards.
