How to tell if you have a bad pci express

Is there anyway to tell if you have a bad pci express slot. I just got a used motherboard from a local used computer store. and everything boots up right. it posts and everything. I got the system updated and running. I put my graphics card into the computer and no i cant get it to post. I called the computer store and they said that i may have to flash the bios. So i did that and i still cant get to posted. I removed and reinserted the ram because they said that could be the problem. I know that they card is not dead because it still works in my old system. Is there anything else i could check the board is a asrock b75m-dgs r2.0 I have a 8gb of ram and a wifi card in the system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try resetting CMOS on the MOBO. Pull it for 30 seconds and then put it back in

Have you tried cleaning the pins of the PCI-E slot with DeoxIT?

These are taken from the manual for your specific motherboard. The location of the CLR CMOS jumper is circled in red Hope this helps.

So back to my original question. What happens when you put the GPU in and try to boot. Anything? BIOS? Fans spin? Nothing at all?

Are you sure you plugged the monitor into the GPU, if you did try the mobo

Unplug the GPU and plug your VGA or DVI connector directly onto the motherboard. See if the system will post with on board graphics.

Then there's a high possibility that your motherboard has a defective PCI-E slot.

Do you have both the 6 pin power cables plugged into the GPU, and what type of PSU are you using?
