GTA V massive frame drops

Go to solution Solved by PlayStation 2,

are there optimization issues on windows 10?

I'm not sure but it can't be the CPU.

Hey guys so I recently got GTA V to work on my computer, however the problem is that i have some MASSIVE frame drops. Just to give you and idea i have everything on low with a 1920x1080 resolution monitor and the max frames I will get in a best case scenario are around  the low 40 range. The lowest I've gotten is around 12 fps. I average around 22 frames. I've checked the advanced settings to make sure I don't have frame scaling on because I know that causes major frame drops but its off and i'm using around 1400mb of VRAM. I'm running on DX11 and have run on DX10 with no different results. I have the latest 15.11 drivers. Here are my specs :

so... i'm pretty sure the fx is necking to hell.

GTA V is a tad cpu-bound isnt it?

Heh, yeah i already knew that was a problem but i didnt know that it affected games that much. I'm getting a I5 4690k for Christmas so that should fix the problem shouldn't it?

It is a bit CPU bound, but that's not the problem.

It shouldn't be that bad of a bottleneck, considering that my brother uses an FX 4100 and an HD 7850 just fine at 1440x900 high ~45fps

I do know that the AMD bulldozer architechture is pretty old. When paired with something that just came out this year that could pose more problems than your brother has with an older video card.

Still shouldn't be that way. What OS?

Make sure you're not running in windowed borderless, that seemed to cause massive frame drops for me, even when running on low settings.

After switching to Fullscreen its buttery smooth

*edit* I also have Bulldozer CPU so that may be the problem....possibly

It's not original, but that's probably your issue.
