(First of all i dont know where to post this, on the graphics card subforum or in the displays subforum so im doing in the general discussion, feel free to move it)

I bought a GTX 980 (Asus Strix) like two months ago, and im still using my old monitor, a Samsung S22C300.

I dont know if my gtx 980 can push further than 1080 p (i guess it can xD) and i dont know if im just loosing some "performance" by using that monitor insted of other better.

Can my card go on 1440p with all maxed out or almost?

Should i buy a new monitor? In that case, what monitor u recomend me (My budget is 300€ more or less, it will be great to take advantage of the black friday)

If i buy a new monitor, i will notice the diference?

Thanks to all, and forgive me about my poor english =(

There's a pretty simple way to test if your setup is overkill for any given resolution. Install fraps, launch your most commonly played game, and max all the settings. If at the highest settings you are still able to stably achieve over 90FPS, then its time to swap out your monitor with one at a higher resolution. Any less than that and you're fine. I'm sitting on dual R9 295x2s and there are still some games that the max settings @ 1080p are too much. If you don't have time to run tests or do research before you buy, the best approach is to assume that there is no such thing as overkill. It's always better to over achieve than it is to play the slideshow equivalent of your favorite game.

Your card can do 1440p 60FPS just fine, but it won't do 144FPS on 1440p tho.

You can get a 60hz 1440p IPS panel with your budget. You will notice it for sure.

and how affect the inches of the monitor on the perfomance? or thers no impact?

im now on 22"

I can do the same with Shadowplay instead?

If i buy an 1440p and i play for example Bioshok infinte at 45 fps all maxed out at 1440p i can play it at 1080p like before buying the monitor?
