Off topic! MazdaSpeed 6?

So my step-dad has a 2006 mazdaspeed 6.  

Many people don't know what the hell it is. Does anyone here have one or know about it?

 

I love the car myself and will probably buy it off of him.  Its the car i learned how to drive a stick shift. 

 

And what mods could i do to it to make it faster for relatively cheap? 

 

 

 

edit: I am aware of the drive train.... the 2.3l i4 turbo putting out 17 psi max before it blows it out. 

 

I'm just wondering how common they are known.

I believe it comes with a Turbo! There are awesome spoilers/body kits out there 3: a tuneup could do wonders

Sure, its a Mazda 6 with the 2.3L a six speed and AWD. 

 

I test drove one when they first came out, it's neat car.

Mazda 6's are very common, mazdaspeed 6's are very uncommon and are really really cool cars. It is basically a direct competitor to Evo's and WRX's. Any turbo 4 banger with AWD is going to be a great car. The AWD system being the key factor in what makes these special. The first things to do to add some power would be to get a 3" or larger exhaust system with new downpipe and a nice muffler. This will allow your turbo to spool a lot more freely. Next would be to get a wideband sensor installed and take it to a tuning shop with a dyno and have them put it through it's paces and get a nice tune on it. Handling mods are just as important so getting a nice set of wheels and tires for it would be the first thing I'd personally do then look into getting a set of coilovers for it. After that would be to get some slotted rotors and nice brake pads.
