Hello :D

So, I'm thinking of finally upgrading from my laptop to a desktop. I've done a bit of research and got two decent possible builds.

Oh yeah and I'm located in the UK however I'm flying to the US at some point next year and will probably pick up all the parts except the case cause of the weight and the power supply cause of compatibility with UK sockets. Is there anything else that I need to consider like are all UK parts and US parts compatible?

Budget: $1700

Aim: Gaming. Max setting at 1080p with close to 144fps to go with the 144hz monitor.

Monitors: 1 at 1080p. Doubt I'll upgrade in the next 5 years but if I do get a bunch of money will probably get the ROG Swift PG279Q along with a new graphics card.

Peripherals: To start with ima just use the mouse that I use now and an old keyboard along with my current headset but as soon as I get the money after buying the pc I'm a get the Razor kraken pro - white, CM Storm QuickFire Rapid-i (probs brown switches) and the Corsair Gaming CGM65 also in white.

Why am I upgrading: Because my current laptop runs Borderlands 2 at barely 20fps and some games don't even open like ark which I bought and still haven't played. Also my laptop is like 4 years old and I'm pretty sure that the graphics card sucks anyway.

Notes:

These are just some things I thought might go well together with my black and white theme I've got going on. Also I love the NZXT phantom 530, it's not a must but I do love it a lot. Another thing I'm not sure about is ram clearance no idea if the cpu cooler gives enough room since pcpartpicker doesn't tell you and I also don't know if liquid cooling is good, it sorta scares me since I've heard stories of people coolers leaking and breaking components so I didn't choose one and the prices are higher too but if I'm overclocking is a liquid cooler a must have if so then I wouldn't mind going over my budget by $50 or something like that. And yes I know that the gpu I've chosen isn't the best 970 but its black and white so :P.

Hello :D

You could easily get a 1440p 144hz free-sync display within that budget, also it would save you like 200 dollars for a monitor that does pretty much the exact same thing as the ROG Swift PG279Q

If you want to get the price down a bit grab a 390, but then maybe get a higher end motherboard that can crossfire with x8/x8 for the future, but games like CS:GO are going to run at high fps even without crossfired 390s

https://pcpartpicker.com/part/acer-monitor-umhg0aa001

http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/monitors/82189-acer-xg270hu-freesync-monitor/

It has the full range of the display for free-sync

also, don't buy a gaming headset man, the Superlex 668Bs are nice for like 40 bucks, and even a low end USB mic like a Samson GOmic is going to sound much better than a headset microphone

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

So I believe this is way better than all of the above:

(the build does not include a case, choose one of your own preference and budget left)
Do not get the 6700k over the 5820k The 5820k is actually 20$ cheaper, and it's a better CPU on a higher-end platform.
