Did i break my mobo?

Hello.

So i've dropped my pc while moving it between rooms... Not a very bright moment.

My mobo is tilted and my pc won't turn on. Rest of the components seem to be fine.

I want to know if i need to reposition it or completely replace it. It is a worthy Q67 from a few years back.

motherboards are pretty resilient .

Are you sure it bent ?

Maybe the fall broke something else .

What other symptoms are there ? Do the fans turn on ? Are there beeps ?

Nope. Nothing. The little led on the fibre cable is working tho.

Make sure everything is plugged in. Clear CMOS. Buy a new board.

Build it outside the case. See what happens. It is probably making a short somewhere.

Well it's obvious the mobo shorting out from the mobo standoffs, look at distance between PS/2 port and the back I/O panel, its not in its correct position.

Where the hell are the MOBO standoff's on top!? You can see there is no screw securing it to a standoff in the top left, since the entire board shifted I would have to assume the same is true for the top right mount.

Did you remember to install the standoffs and screw the board in?

Stop trying to power it on, it's probably shorting out. Take the whole thing out, install your standoffs, and screw the thing down.

There is such a thing as plastic standoffs?

Yes there is, especially if you got a case that's from some the unknown and extremely cheap. In the P3 days, most cases will supply a few of those, so to support the edge of the board where there are no mounts for stand offs.

There are many types, this is one of them

The case frame is obviously twisted, it's probably shifted enough to short out.

Stop trying to turn it on and pull everything out. Build it on a box and see if it'll turn on then.

Dropping it won't kill it but trying to turn it on with a short will.

I have screws rather than this plastic.

Funny story i had a PC at shop like 14 15 years ago that would't detect a hard drive one standoff screw was placed wrong right behind the IDE connection on motherboard, it did't fry hardware but it did prevent it from functioning.

I had a cheap case back in 05 or 06 for a spare pc. Used them for LAN gaming when I hosted parties.

Anyways this one kept shocking people who walked near it. Took a while to diagnose but finally found the motherboard tray was twisted and caused several points of contact.

Welp that worked. A standoff fell into tge case when I dropped it. Being night did not help. Thanks.
