Hi guys,

I'm looking to upgrade from my now inadequate 750Ti to something with a bit more oomph. I am currently running with a i5 3570K on an MSI Z77 board. I am looking for very good/excellent gaming performance in AAA titles at 1440p and also will be doing some Solidworks, Davinci Resolve and possibly simulation work on this rig.

So far I am considering:

The original Titan or a Titan Black

GTX 970

GTX 980

AMD Fury/Fury X

AMD 295X2

EDIT:

fyi I am running two 3.5" HDDs; an SSD and on optical drive in a fractal define r4 with 2 fans front and one in the back.

If you can afford a Titan, why not get a 980 Ti?

Intel Core i7-6700K | Corsair H105 | Asus Z170I PRO GAMING | G.Skill TridentZ Series 16GB | 950 PRO 512GB M.2

Asus GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB STRIX OC | BitFenix Prodigy (Black/Red) | XFX PRO Black Edition 850W

Isn't the 390x2 out though... Which should technically be faster?

295X2 > 390X2 - 290X > 390 by a bit :)

295X2 > 390X2 - 290X > 390 by a bit :)

You sure.... Unless the 390x2 has horrible throttling and bad drivers... I see no reason for it to be slower.

the 390 uses a cut-down 390X coe

290X is fully featured Hawaii - it's ever so slightly ahead (talking 4-5% but it's still there) - the only thing is the VRAM on the 390X2 is more

That was partly my dilemma, I was leaning towards a used titan because of the improved double precision performance which could benefit CAD and simulation programs?

If you want Compute power either lose a decent bit of performance and go Titan Black or go full out monster and R9 295X2 - that is a OpenCL BEAST

I guess lol. Possibly improved in the future maybe.

The trouble being that the 295x2 is hard to get in the UK right now, do you know if the 390x2 give similar OpenCL performance?

Of course - it's only 5% or so slower - it even has double the VRAM :)

What would you advise as a good PSU for a card that huge? 8D

Probably a good 1000w or better.

850W is enough >.>

While testing a 295x2 I was hitting the mid 900w range. I haven't had a chance to try out the 390x2 yet, I was making assumptions. I'm not sure what the op is running besides the 3570k. I apologize.

Odd - @Prysin doesn't go over 800W with his 295x2 system
