I'll start off by getting right to the chase, right now I am planning a major upgrade to my pc and I am having trouble choosing between two builds I have put together. I am looking for an opinion on which of these builds I should use. For reference this is my current Rig

Current Rig: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/kc7ZmG (I will be keeping the 970 in this build)

Possible Build 1: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/yJj4zy

Possible Build 2: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9P2FjX

Couple of things to note, I am planning on purchasing an ROG Swift to pair with my end build

Yes I know a single 970 can't push 144fps on many titles and I'm planning to upgrade my gpu when Pascal arrives and until then CS:GO is all I need to push at 144fps

I am not shy to OCing and if that is part of a reccomendation it is more than a valid point

I know I can pirate windows but I would like a legit copy this time around

Thanks for any help or reccomendations in Advance!

what PSU would you reccomend I am pretty set on a $1200 budget that is why I chose it originally (I also had a cx500m as my first PSU so I was gonna go with another)

(EDIT): also would it be worth going with skylake just to be able to uprade to whatever other architecture ends up going on lga 1151?

I vote 5820k if you have any use other than gaming intended

Would it be too ambitous to expect 4ghz on a 5820k with the cooler I have? I would really like to push the single core performance of it up to that of the 6700K considering atm I dont have many uses other than gaming, student work, and webrowsing in mind which all dont really benefit from more cores.

Ok noted about both the hard drive and CPU, after looking at the gigabyte board on Newegg it seems many people have had issues with the BIOS and USB3 on the board so I may want to pass on it, additionally if anyone wants to revise my skylake Part list like Morgan did to the X99 one it would make me very happy.

Same Boat Same question...  Currently Im looking more at the Skylake for a few reasons.  1st, TDP since I plan to OC and air-cool in a quiet build I would rather not need 100% to keep the OC cool all the time.  2nd Single thread performance, is what drives 99.99% of tasks.  3rd my "task" oriented programs such as light room, Photoshop, and CREO(CAD) show almost no difference between 4-6 cores.  So unless your doing multiple CPU intensive process simultaneously the extra  .2Mhz on a 6700K will yield more performance gains in everything.

BUT what if i want to start streaming, or whatever while I game...  or what if DX15 make multithreading better... or what if Photoshop 72 utilizes 74 threads...  Ok a bit hyperbolic but the reality is if you do lots of CPU intensive tasks simultaneously like game/render/stream then get the 6 core, But if your an average user that might stream a 6700 will still be great...
