Just buy a core i5 instead!

FX-6300

Pros:

Support AMD and help them get out of financial difficulties

Cons:

Performs like absolute shit

Uses excessive amounts of power

I have one in my home storage server/media PC. I mean it's okay but at the end of the day it's AMD, which as we know is dead in the CPU market a long time ago. Get an i5 :)

oh and one other con, 65°C thermal limit. depending on which part of Australia you live in that could make a world of difference. Especially with summer approaching.

Lets NOT forget CHEAP boards and their VRM temp threshold being 60*c, anything over and CPU throttles, even if the CPU temp is LOW.

Esp in Australia.

Yeah that is a problem, in another computer we have a 8320 and even in winter it was overheating so just recently we put a liquid cooler on it and it seems better.

Not always an option. My friend more on his CPU than GPU in a 270x build just for i5. (NZ prices)

I guess it depends where you are yeah, in the UK i5s are pretty cheap, especially compared to GPUs. Then again 270x is a low end gpu.

6300 is lower end.

Pros:

- Inexpensive

- Overclockable

- Good overclocked value in multithreaded workloads

Cons:

- No upgrade path

- Outdated platform

- You will need to spend money on a decent board, rather than a cheap one.
