Recently I have been having a little problem with my pc boot drive, so i have to go to bios to fix that, but the problem is that the keyboard, connected via usb, is not working until the pc is booted, which is after the press this to go to bios page, and the computer never boots. how can i go to bios without using the keyboard, or do i have to plug it into a certain usb port for it to work? the motherboard is msi z97 gaming 5, i don't have  ps/2 adapter.

have you tried a USB 2 port?

because if that doesnt work you need a different keyboard

Is it plugged into a USB 2.0 port? If it is, do you have a spare PS/2 based keyboard laying around?(if your motherboard supports PS/2 that is)

Whats happening is your using a non-standard keyboard. What you need is an older generic dell or HP keyboard that has absolutely no drivers.

Either put your keyboard into bios mode if it has one, use a ps/2 keyboard, or use a driverless keyboard.

From what I know there is no way to get into the BIOS without a keyboard.

as everyone else has said, what keyboard is it, have u tried different ports and have you got ps/2 ports ?

if so try an older gen keyboard that is driverless, if it doesn't work, can take drastic action as a last resort of , clearing the CMOS and then it will

Its the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 and it does have a PS/2 port (which is where I don't like my Z97 Sabertooth-it needs a PS/2-USB adapter).

My old abit VP6 has the same problem-you need to use a PS/2 keyboard or a PS/2-USB adapter, once your in the bios you will be able to set the bios to work with USB keyboards (well its what the VP6 allowed me to do)
