1. Budget & Location
My budget (for the PC without peripherals) is $700-$850 USD

2. Aim
This is going to be a gaming computer for new titles like Fallout 4 and XCOM 2. It will also be used for word processing, web surfing, etc.

3. Monitors
I'll be running two monitors. I already have a smaller Asus monitor that I currently use as a secondary monitor with my laptop. I've listed another monitor in my part list but I'm open to changing that. I would like to have the ability to go to three monitors in the future if I ever decide to do that.

4. Peripherals
I already have most of the peripherals and I have a copy of Windows 8.1 ready for it.

5. Why are you upgrading?
I am upgrading as the only computer I have right now is a run of the mill Dell laptop. I want a PC that has the power to play modern games. I'm also just looking forward to the experience of building a PC and making it my own.

I already have a part list together on pcpartpicker:  http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9ZKyMp (I already have the Asus monitor)

This is my first time builiding a PC so I'm checking to make sure I didn't overlook something that would be obivous to a veteran builder.  I would also be interested if someone had an idea for a better monitor (for a reasonalby similar price) than the AOC that I currently have in my part list.

There is also the strong possibility that I might switch out some of the parts for other parts that are on sale/have mail-in rebates when I plan on buying all of the parts. ( Such as the SSD, memory, power supply)

Thanks in advance fo any help!

Try to swap the 960 for a r9 380.

Could also be worth dropping one of the sticks of RAM and getting a smaller SSD to facilitate an i5 instead of the i3. You can always add more RAM later, and an i5 is quite a lot better, even if it's just a lower end one like  4440 :)

Fallout 4 should be okay on the i3 but if your worried, get the i5-4460.  The gpu is fine but others will say to change it to a r9 380.  If you go Nvidia, know it will support Nvidia Gameworks on Fallout 4.  Another thing is change the power supply, that one hates heat, get a evga one at least.  Wait untill black friday and cyber monday this month.

Do this.  If you want Nvidia, go 960 or if you dont care for dx12 then go look for a 780 2gb or 780 3gb for around $230, if its any more, it may be too much.

Don't get a 960.  The 380 has more Vram and performs better at almost everything.

If OP wants Nvidia Gameworks with Fallout 4, then they should get a Nvidia card.  Yes the 960 is low on Vram and is not as powerful as the r9 380 but im just letting them know.  This is why i also suggested a 780 if they can get it low enough, they are powerful and have a 3gb vram version.  If they are modding and dont care about Nvidia Gameworks on Fallout 4, then the r9 380 wins for this senario.
