Finally Built my PC but nothing on Monitor

ThatGreg
Go to solution Solved by stupidhuman,

If you have a graphics card, connect your HDMI cable to that.

I know someone who tried to connect their monitor to the motherboard and wondered why nothing showed up.

So my PC is finally built, and it is connected via HDMI to my monitor but nothing shows up on the screen. My mother board is a

GIGABYTE GA-Z97-HD3  and it came with a CD but not sure if thats important, and my pc doesnt have a CD drive.

Anyone know what I should do?

Does your processor have on-board graphics?

Do try this. :3

But if its in the card, connect it to the motherboard and see if that works >w> if its posting, then its your GPU and RMA it

Next time click the "[bB]" button on PCPartPicker to get a nicely formatted version.

Connect the monitor to the GPU and not the motherboard preferably with a supplied VGA->DVI adapter or DVI cable.  Don't use HDMI and don't adapt DVI to HDMI.  It should not be an issue but sometimes drivers must be installed for HDMI out to function properly.

Integrated graphics are disabled by default when a graphics card is plugged in.

Who would want to use VGA over HDMI?
