Hello, I am trying to built my brother a decent desktop pc for Christmas. I have bought an Intel Pentium G620 socket LGA 1155 but I do not have a motherboard for it yet, can anyone recommend a good motherboard for this as I have only ever worked with AMD rather than Intel. I am trying to build for a minimum price with enough feature that I can upgrade for my bro in the future.

P.S. I got this cpu for £12. Is this a good deal for a chip that is now old?

Kind regards Brennan Price

good deal, its a 1/3 of MSRP. Go onto PCPartpicker.com and look for compatible (but still sold) motherboards there. They may be really expensive though.

Cheers, I appreciate your help

Although may I ask how you got system specs so high at only 13 years of age?

Saving up since I was ~10 ( car washing, shoveling snow, etc... ) also got monitor for free from someone

Nice, I tried to do that for a bit but I gave up because it was too much. Then when my older, crappier pc died on me I asked my parents for a new PC. I saved them money on my gaming pc as I built it myself. Also, I got the monitor for free as it was not in use and came with another old pc. So I took it for myself, but it has a really bad resolution of 1280x1024. Whats your resolution?

It was an older dell that is 1920x1080 but has about 30 dead pixels in the top left corner, but i'm fine mainly as i can move icons around.

That's not bad. Either way 30 dead pixels can't be much. Can it?

They are sort of grouped, which makes it hard to read things like the back button in a full-screen browser window.

Fair enough then, but I am guessing it is still fine for gaming. Or, if it gets annoying of not being able to see the back button, get a mouse that supports forward and backward buttons for things like internet or files too. Something like 5-button mouse from HP

Well, i'm fine with it. I never notice it at all while doing anything.
