Skylake i3 Questions

Hi guys, I found a store in our area that is now selling i3-6100. I'd like to ask if is it worth it for the following:

- 720p MOBA/old AAA games with Twitch stream via XSplit

- 3D modelling with Maya 2015 + mental ray

- current AAA titles (will upgrade to an i5, 2-3 years after build)

Current GPU is Sapphire HD7750, but will upgrade to GTX 960 as the first upgrade to the said build.

Spoiler

I'd really go for an FX-8320 in this case as Maya will benefit from it

yeah but ''720p MOBA/old AAA games with Twitch stream via XSplit'' this is where the FX also particularily sucks...want to bring an FX to his knees...this!

but i would go with an i5-4590 and this board instead :) ...those prices man!

179$ the 4590 @ Superbiiz $10.00 off w/ promo code: TIFA76210, ends 2015-11-09 23:59:59

Micro center I THINK is in-store pick up only...if you happen to be able to drive there check the motherboard/CPU combos they have awesome deals.

What you want to do the i3 will do better than the FX most of the time but this i5^^ slap them both and is worth spending a bit more if possible...if not get i3 that way you can upgrade without trowing away an outdated AM3+ kit.

Still, Maya and other 3D modeling/rendering programs will benefit from the 8320e

yeah, then that will depend if the build is mostly a gaming rig or a workstation...what is more important to him i guess...

obviously a quad-core intel would be ideal for the tasks he described.
