Impending flood of 390s. which frankly is the best option for 1440 of the 3. More VRam, just as powerful, for the same price.

For 1440p the 780's VRAM and wider memory bus should help, however it is a bit slower than a GTX 970-not by too much however. It is however better for DirectX 9 games if you have any.

If you really want 1440p you'd be better off with a 980 ti or Fury. Or a 980 at the very least. (But I still find those hard to recommend at their current pricing.)

AMD pretty much owns 1440p unless you're willing to spend on a 980 Ti or Titan X. It's not about the extra vram either, it's the wider buses and fast vram that make them the better choice for 1440p at the $300-$550 price points.

Ahhhh depends on the game but it seems to be in the 780's favor alot of the time for max fps, though average fps???? Probably also the 780

Actually....if I were to be buying a card today, it'd be the XFX 8GB 290X, and not the 390.
