Sometimes programs won't start up

Ive been having this issue for the last few days. First off, whenever I start up my computer I get a response issue from Steam, my gaming client. Also ive been having troubles starting up games. First off it took 3 tries and me having to restart my computer just for steam to start working. Also one of my games on steam wasn't starting up for about 30 minutes until I tried starting it later. This goes for almost all of my other games. A game called SpinTires (not even related to Steam), I clicked it and it said It wasn't responding. 2 tries later and me putting the computer on standby this time, and it works. Same issue with TF2 and minecraft as well. They just won't open. Sometimes they will, and sometimes they won't. A good example is while I'm typing this, no matter how many times I click on minecraft it won't open. Also, one of my web browsers called Yandex seems to be having an issue. It started around the same time all of this did. I can't watch youtube on it, Shockwave keeps crashing all the time. Another odd thing is that when ever I try to go on pcpartpicker, only on the Yandex browser, It either doesn't load at all of the tab freezes. Another this is Skype. I have to click it multiple times to get it to start, or put my computer on standby and turn it back on for it to start up.

At first I thought that it must be a virus. I had Microsoft security essentials so I ran a test. No viruses. I got rid of MSE and got AVG. Ran another test, same thing. No viruses. Also, when I tried running AVG's 1-click Maintenance, I kept getting this error multiple times during the middle of the test, "Windows System Assessment Tool has stopped working"

I have done many cleanings such as de-fragmenting the HHD, using Disk Cleaner, Cleaning the registry with AVG, and checking the disk for errors. Everything turned up fine. I really don't want to use the "sfc scannow" thing because last time I did that, It corrupted my computer. I have no idea how that happened but it did.

I was at Microcenter the other day and asked one of the guys there what he thought. He said it might be a bad sector on the HHD or something.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Start by undoing any overclocks.

Hmm. I wouldn't even bother trying to "fix" something like this. I'd just back up important data (movies, photos, music) and re-install the OS.

A spec list wouldn't of hurt.

I havn't done any overclocks, it's a laptop.

HP dv6

RAM: 6gb

OS: Windows 7

Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 6620g

Processor: AMD A8 3520m APU

It seems whenever I right click computer and go into properties, It says "Windows explorer has stopped working" "Windows explorer is now restarting"

Looks like it stopped for now but the first 4 times I right clicked to get into properties Windows explorer kept restarting.

Like Wats said, I would go with a fresh install. There just comes a point where you can only do so much to try and repair it... And you seem at the point where it's fresh install time. I would say don't do a factory reset and would do a actual windows 7 install. If you need help with that just let me know.

Yeah. Just go find a windows .iso and microsoft usb boot installer thing. Really easy to make a usb installer in case you don't have dvds.

Your activation code should be on the back of the notebook.

Back up important data! Anything you can't get back!

EDIT

Drivers. They should be pretty easy to find on the manufacter's website. DL, un-compress and install. Reboot every time it asks. You will want to have the LAN driver on stand-by. Install that one first.

I use a small program called Double Driver that will backup essential drivers (lan, gfx, wifi, sound, etc) into a file and then re-deploy them with the program again on a fresh install. Really handy.

@ OP - For an ISO and guide to re-install W7 (+ Legit ISO links) google Mydigitallife Windows 7 and it will give you the essentials.

First thing you want to do, before you go though the hassle of re-installing windows is run chkdsk...............if you could post an image of the processes running when the programs fail to load that maybe helpful too.
