Hey, I posted a couple days ago but I'm still having a hard time completing my build as I want to order the parts this weekend, I have a few questions regarding parts this is the base build i have so far, please tell me what is the best optimization for my price ($1200) here are my questions,

My main goal is to game at max settings with as much fps as possible at 1080p for my price point, is a 390 or a 970 better? i play csgo and highly anticipate fallout 4

is an i7 better then an i5? which should I get? I don't understand all the different numbers at the end like 4790k because some i5 are more expensive then i7s and there are so many lol

and just what else can i optimize in this build like is 2x8 GB ram the way to go? or is it better to get 4x4 GB?

thank you so much to who ever replys I'm a very indecisive person and don't like jumping to conclusions on things such as this and spending a lot of money

get a better PSU that one SUCKS

get a g1 or seasonic. you dont need that much ram your processor doesnt even support it.. Get two 4gb sticks.. 4790k is great so stick with that.. as far as 390 vs 970 which brand do you like better? I like nvidia but thats just me.. pick whichever you like. Very similar cards.

You might wanna change that motherboard. You have an unlocked processor for an H-series motherboard. if you want the H-series mobo, get the regular 4790. If you really want to overclock or keep the CPU, go with a Z97 mobo

Don't be fooled by the bottom line of my sig, that is just for my travels.

So you're telling me that Gaben is no God? Enough of your foolishness.

My hardware you ask? I'm using a Dell Inspiron 3217 Notebook... With an LG 25UM57.

Also, he said he just needs it for gaming, so 16GB RAM isn't really necessary and it could be stepped down to a 4690k

Pro Tip: don't use flash when taking pictures of your build; use a longer exposure instead. Prop up your camera with something (preferably a tripod) if necessary.

if you use retarded/autistic/etc to mean stupid please gtfo

16GB is really helpful. Especially when multi tasking like watching youtube ect.

AAA games are starting to utilize hyper threading slowly.

Ohh that's going to be great pretty soon. So if OP is willing, he could run something like a Xeon E3 1231v3 or 1241v3 because of their hyperthreading while still having pretty good performance in games.

Easily. It consumes an estimated 487W, I made sure to get 550 to make sure.

Should I lower it an i5 and see if I can get you a better GPU? Or alternatively, dropping down to an i5 might get you more RAM.

What ever you think would be best for gaming with some general use, i could also up my budget a bit to fit in a good upgrade thanks a lot for the help man

Edit: I've also read that now that the 970 and the 390 are similar in value that the 970 is better for gaming at 1080p which is what I'm going to be doing

Let me cook something up. How much over budget can you go? Are you gonna overclock?

The K behind a CPU means its unlocked and can be overclocked. That's why some i5 models are more expensive than an i7. That 980Ti just simply will give you THE BEST performance at 1080P. You'll be able to max out nearly all settings with it.
