Recently I finished up my first pc build. The first thing I did was overclock my msi GTX 970 100ME edition, which went over very well. Now I'm starting to think about overclocking my CPU as well and I think I may have done a bad. I have an unlocked devils canyon 4690k, however, my MB, a gigabyte sniper with a B6 chipset. As far as I know(now) you can't overclock on this chipset. After some research I have people saying you can, and a lot who say I can't. And of course, I can't find an oc guide anywhere. Being a pc noob I'd rather not jump into messing around with core clocks an voltages unless I know its safe. Am I out of luck? I put a lot of extra money into a liquid cooler and an unlocked processor, only to overlook a spec on my mb. :( Any help would be greatly appreciated

I think with a recent BIOS update Asus allowed overclocking on any chipset but that was Asus, not Gigabyte... I think you should just go and get yourself a nice Z97 motherboard :P

Yes I kinda agree TheRandomness. It was something I didn't realize until after I built my system, and now it haunts me. Especially with the overclocking potential in the 4690k. I worked really hard to colour match my parts, as I did a green and black build. And the gigabyte sniper board was a perfect aesthetic fit. Sadly, I value performance more than esthetics haha :P
