UEFI / BIOS not accessible

Go to solution Solved by Master Disaster,

Just hold down shift in windows then press restart and you should get an option to boot into UEFI.

Or grab MSI Fastboot app from their support site, it'll be listed in the Utilities section on your boards support page. Install it and it'll give you a button on your desktop to reboot into UEFI.

Hi there :D

I built my new PC a couple weeks ago. I started setting up everything and stuff like that. Everything went fine. But now onto my actual problem. After one week I decided to run both of my HDDs in RAID 1 for redundancy. I wanted to go into the BIOS by hitting Del on startup. But I was not able to open it up. I wasn't able to get into the boot menu either. So I was wondering what I could do about that. A couple things: It worked before / I don't know if there's any option to disable the hotkeys, neither do I know if I changed any of these / My motherboard: MSI A78M-35

I hope you can help me out, thank you in advance! :)

1) Always put your complete systems specs in a troubleshooting thread. It helps a lot.

2) Make sure you click on the "follow" option for all your threads so that you know if someone replies, even if they don't quote you.

3) Are you spamming the BIOS entry key during startup? If you are running Win 8/8.1 or 10 it is possible that it will go past the post screen so fast that you won't be able to hit the BIOS entry key in time.

Can't you see my system specs if you go on my profile?

Yes, I've tried spamming and just pressing it one time. I'm on Windows 7 btw. It worked before by just pressing it one time :)

Yes, I could see them if I go to your profile, but if you don't post it in the OP then every single person that want's to help you will have to go to your profile to look at it instead of just reading the post/scrolling up. If you read the sticky for the Troubleshooting forum it is stated that you need to always post your system specs in the OP. It saves people a lot of time, and you are likely to get more help if they don't have to go hunting your system specs.

If you just cannot get it no matter what, try resetting your CMOS.

I've already tried those. By the way, it says that it is Del on the boot / MSI logo screen

did you turn on quick boot?

This ^.  If you turned on ^Quick Boot^ then you will probably have to reset your CMOS to get in.

Yes I did. Does it prevent me from going into the BIOS? If so, is there a way to turn it off again?

reset the CMOS. either reseat the jumper or reove that MoBo battery and put it back in.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

I does in a way, by skipping the bios key enter stage on boot, I'm not sure if you can reset it without reseting the bios, to do that either remove the motherboard battery to clear the cmos or flash the cmos with a piece of metal between the pins
