So, i was browsing Newegg for an SSD, and came across this Zotac SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820016002

Ive searched all over, and can not find a review for it, as it appears to be fairly new, released on the 15th this month. The speeds look good, but other than that, I know jack shit about SSDs when it comes to real information. All I know is it has a Phison controller and Toshiba MLC or whatever. There are many sites that give the same basic details by just googling it. I dont want to post a specific site for reasons of course.

But, anyone try one out? Anyone know from anyone if they are good? Anyone able to dissect info and tell me how it would compare to any other SSD?

I currently have an 840 Pro, and need a new SSD as that is filled up. I want a really good one but really dont wanna go over 80ish. I know newegg has sales for 850 Evos to bring the price to like 75 sometimes, but would really like to nab one in the next week instead of waiting for a possible sale.

-snip-

This SSD is horrendous!  It has a 500Mbs write and 520Mbs read.  You do realize this is SLOWER than a WD Blue hard drive which does 6Gbs read and 3Gbs write(approximately)

I'm playing my Xbone on 3 LG Curved monitors-No one ever

Please, read CoC it helps, it helped me it should help you-Every competent member

Resident bad pun maker.....please excuse them

I had to check the specs on the SSD twice because I almost didn't believe it.

You just broke the internet with that read/write speed failure. lol WD BLUE mechanical drives are NOWHERE near that speed. not even HALF as fast.

How do you not know what average speed a mechanical HDD is these days.....you don't worship LTT enough as your profile says...

OP

500/520 isn't that bad, in Windows and general use, you'd not really immediately notice much of anything faster than 350-400Mbps but anyway,.... it's not pushing the Sata3 6Gbps boundaries as much like some others brands are. ie: 550/540 or 560/520....

I'd be more interested in the Iops and warranty as well.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Im not sure if youre serious or not...520 R/500 W compared to an 850 Evo of 540 R/520 W.

Uhhh...

The Serial-ATA data bus is capable of 6Gb/s or 3 Gb/s. It DOES NOT mean the mechanical drives automatically reach that speed.

An analogy is a highway with the a speed limit of 180 mph (SATA bus). Can your car go 180 mph (HDD)?

6Gb/s ~= 750 MB/s theoretical (but ~550 MB/s realistically)

Common 7200 RPM Mechanical HDD's (i.e. WD Black) get like 150~175 MB/s speeds.

A SSD with 500MB/s and 550 MB/s is MUCH faster.

The Samsung 850 Pro is rated at 550 MB/s read, and 520 MB/s write, so....
