Hi all,

I'm looking for a Windows Powered tablet (8.1 or 10 64 bit are  fine).

Pricing is under $700 USD (preferably around $500 though)

I want it to be able to run Visual Studio no problem. By able to multi task, run chrome, office.

I would prefer if it had a pen and if their is a pen/keyboard please factor both into cost.

Please list the tablet and price as well as a link to specs/where to buy it.

Thanks a lot (I was considering Surface 3 but it's not exactly brand new and I don't think it can handle visual studio very well).

Surface Pro 4 is a complete no no since it's far too expensive.

  :)

The tablet is going to be there for the times I want a tablet and for a non school kind of laptop replacement (IMHO tablets running full windows are awesome!).

The PC will still be there for gaming. The laptop for school work and the tablet for non school work.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

So, I did some research, and I found two you might like.

1: The Surface 3 (Yes, you talked about it in your post, but with that budget it's a very good choice. I don't have experience with Visual Studio so I don't know how well it will run)

2: The HP Pro-Tablet 608 G1. Here's some links to US retailers:

It seems to have good specs, 4GB RAM, 64/128GB storage with a nice sprinkling of features, running Windows 8.1 Pro. Plus, it's in the middle of your budget range. I think it looks good for your needs :)

No problem :)

Had a look at the both and I laughed so hard with the first. It said at the specs section "Apple A4" and i was like "You sure this got an A4? THis don't look like an original iPad to me".

Both options appear to be OK with visual studio although some research confirms my fears. Visual Studio runs OK with an Atom and can hiccup and slow down a bit compared to a core i5 or a core i7.

Haha, lol.

Anyway, I don't know of the existence of any tablet (besides a Surface Pro or something) with a Core i5 or i7. Unless you were just going to get a laptop or two-in-one with those CPUs, but they might be more expensive then these tablets.

If you decide you want me to look up some laptops or two-in-ones I'll do that :)

I may go for the Surface 3 but then there's the charging taking way too long. I'll go check it out in store and ask some questions including who long they think it takes to charge lol.

It's a shame the surface 3 has such bad charging times. It probably will have to do though.
