2 Gtx 590 sli vs 2 HD7950 crossfire?

Loadent

Looking at buying 2 Gtx 590 with water blocks for $200. Currently the rig has 2 HD7950 gigabyte 3gb. Q9550 on a x48-ds5 and 8 gab ram.

He also has some water cooling parts too.

Is the 590 just too old now? Limit of 1.5 gb vs 3 gb?

Scaling / stuttering with sli 4 way? It's just the extra computer in the house rarely gets turned on.

We thought a water cool project might be fun? Just don't want to waste money for no preformance gains.

1.5gb super hot, high power consption, bad drivers go with the 7950s

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

No. Crappy scaling for 4x, VRAM 1.5GB is not enough, old tech with microstutters.

Consider one 950 if you want. Don't know about water cooling it

What for? He already have HD7950s.

Perhaps I should have been more clear. Main rig is a 5930k with 2 Gtx 980 in sli. Second is i7 920 with 2 Gtx 970. The both have aio coolers. We only use it the old computer when my kids have several friends over and play over network. It's more about the experience doing a water cool build with my son.

The old one I built late 2008 and is a q9550 with 2 hd7950. We thought it would be fun to make a full loop on it if it will preform the same or better using the Gtx 590 then the hd7950 Crossfired. Way to costly to buy all new water parts for either other machines.

They guy is wanting $280 Canadian for the 2 cards, 2 radiators, dual bay res and pump. Plus tubing and fittings. Gear would be from 2011 or 2012.

I don't want to neuter the machines preformance just to say I water cooled it. I may just buy the gear and not the cards.
