So I'm building a sky lake computer and my case is an inwin 805 and I my motherboard is going to be a asus maximus viii hero and the cpu is a i7 6700k. And basically I want a air cooler (preferably a noctua) which is no taller then 145mm. The reason why I am going for a air cooler is because I'm afraid of leaks in a closed loop cooler. And I've seen closed loop coolers leak.

closed loops aint that bad but any way the hyper 212 is a solid cooler for the price

He asked for a noctua, and that it be no larger than 145mm to fit in his case. The hyper 212 firstly, isn't noctua, and secondly is 160mm tall. More than 15mm too tall to fit in his case, thirdly. People need to stop fanboying over the 212. For its price, there's not much better, but for 10$ more you can get something significantly better, and for 20$ more you can get something far, far better and quieter.

Why 145mm when the case supports up to 156mm?

Because the mother board height, cpu height added up together is about 7mm thick so I want to leave some space and besides the

Noctua d15 is 165mm I think and useless I'm wrong pls correct me

The cpu cooler clearance of 156mm is measured from the cpu socket.
