Hi.

So recently me any my friends are doing some online stuff on college. And it was all ok until the news came today:

College will start to permanently block all the devices that use too much traffic.

So i'm wondering is that possible to block my laptop so i can never connect to their wifi again?

Also i wonder if that is true, is there a way so they can't see my ip? Maybe using vpn or something?

THANKS

a VPN won't change your IP if they run the network locally.

Your temporary IP address inside their LAN don't matter. There are MAC address spoofing software available but I haven't bothered using them.

Sometimes you don't get temporary IP's.

Sometimes you don't get temporary IP's.

In this case you would because of the environment. Apart from printers etc.

Also depends how many PC's. But his personal laptop no.

EDIT for @biggiepk:

like @Name Taken said they would just ban your MAC Address. In that case you spoof (which I have never done  but I guess it could happen easily).

EDIT:

Or change your network adapter. (I THINK don't quote me on this)

Yeah didn't think of it that way.

Thousands of devices must connect to the college wireless network through out a day so it would not be fesible to keep a persistent DHCP lease database.

Yes Yes Yes

hmmm.. so is there any way i can keep rocking their wifi? :/

You could get some super cheap USB network adapters and use those :P They have different MAC addresses. After then ban one, just plug in another one xD

@biggiepk I guess this could work http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Spoof-Your-MAC-Address/

It looks old AF and not sure if you can even do it. Try it?

They are blocking MAC adresses, as poeple have stated before me, and a mac spoofer should do the trick!

How do you join the wifi, authentication wise? If you have to use your college username/password to authenticate to it then changing MAC address won't help, if they only block the device first then all you'll end up doing is getting your account blocked from wifi all together.

Enterprise grade wireless controllers can also detect MAC spoofing too btw, still worth a shot but you won't be making any friends with the IT department if you get caught. FYI on what Aruba controllers can do, but anything from Cisco, Juniper, Ruckus etc can also do.

http://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/ArubaOS_63_Web_Help/Content/ArubaFrameStyles/New_WIP/Client_Blacklisting.htm

"There are several reasons why you may choose to blacklist a client. For example, you can enable different Aruba intrusion detection system (IDS) features that detect suspicious activities, such as MAC address spoofing or DoS attacks".

As others have said, they will likely be blocking the MAC address. You can use MAC address spoofing software to avoid this. To be honest the fact that your collage does this is terrible. You or your parents pay large amounts of money to go to their collage and they do these things to the Wifi? You should get a bunch of students and you guys should all complain to the school to have them stop doing this.
