Will it bottleneck?

So I'm going to get another 980ti sometime soon. I play at 3440x1440 so its not total overkill :P

I think it will bottle neck my 4790k and was wondering if I should get a 5820k (I can switch the 4970k set up anytime for a newer setup) Yay for microcenter ;P

So I wouldn't be out any money if I switch to a 5820k or if I am maybe like $100 since I might get 32gb ddr4 I don't know

What do you guys think??

No, the 4790k should not bottleneck 980Ti SLI.

Just overclock it.

No card will be bottlenecked by that CPU. Not this generation, anyway. Not even a 980ti SLI.

Though, you might wanna raise that multiplier a tad.

I used to be quite active here.

Lol the title of the topic sounds like a TV series type thing that Linus would do, like Scrapyard Wars.

Why 32gbs? Unless you're doing a game server or massive rendering or vms you'll never need that.

Join the Appleitionist cause! See spoiler below for answers to common questions that shouldn't be common!

Spoiler

Q: Do I have a virus?!
A: If you didn't click a sketchy email, haven't left your computer physically open to attack, haven't downloaded anything sketchy/free, know that your software hasn't been exploited in a new hack, then the answer is: probably not.

Q: What email/VPN should I use?
A: Proton mail and VPN are the best for email and VPNs respectively. (They're free in a good way)

Q: How can I stay anonymous on the (deep/dark) webzz???....

A: By learning how to de-anonymize everyone else; if you can do that, then you know what to do for yourself.

Q: What Linux distro is best for x y z?

A: Lubuntu for things with little processing power, Ubuntu for normal PCs, and if you need to do anything else then it's best if you do the research yourself.

Q: Why is my Linux giving me x y z error?

A: Have you not googled it? Are you sure StackOverflow doesn't have an answer? Does the error tell you what's wrong? If the answer is no to all of those, message me.

No bottlenecks with a 4790k at all, even at stock speeds. If you was playing 1080p you would have a bottleneck then.

You will happily run anything at 4k so buy up and enjoy :)

I do a lot of cinematography :)

I have 24gb at the moment

is your 4790k overclocked? if so, what it's at?

i don't think it will bottleneck anything

and its at 4.8

Considering your overclock and your CPU it should not bottleneck at all, however if you do have spare money upgrading to an 5820k and getting more RAM is a good upgrade.

lol, no it won't.

The 4790K is one of the best consumer CPUs out there (alongside the 4690K, 6600K and 6700K) as it's a 4-core with mad IPC.

Bottlenecks also happen contextually, at 1440p 21:9, the framerates will not be high enough to stress out the CPU. Hell, the 4790K probably wouldn't bottleneck 980 Ti SLI at stock speeds!

If you have a 4690K or 4790K, you will be good for pretty much any graphics configuration for the next 3 years.

At 3440x1440 no.

Why? At higher resolutions the CPU becomes less dependant. At 1080p yeah it would bottleneck. Possibly at 2560x1440, also 3-Way SLI would bottleneck it. 3-Way Titan X's Bottleneck a 5960x, even JayzTwoCents said so.

i'm not sure it would be great, i remeber my brother last pc upgrade he use to have a 970 sli with 4770k overclocked to 4.5 and 16GB of ram, he was getting crazy day after another.

now he is using the 5930k and they're working much better

Is he still using 970 SLI? What resolution was he running at?

I'm not sure why then, it shouldn't bottleneck even 980 Ti SLI.

980Ti won't bottleneck on 4790K! Nothing to worry about! It won't even bottleneck on 4690K.

Give me a boost.

Even without overclocking it you should be fine. The 4790K still is a great CPU and can max just about any game to date without bottlenecking anything.

The real question is,

Will it blend???
