Hi Guys

I glance through most of what posted about motherboard. Currently i used a Sandy bridge -E  and when i started my journey in computer world for gaming my head here says the expensive the item it has a better quality what not..so i go with the 2011.. now i just learn a few days ago the 1150 socket are much updated. i'm thinking of moving myself to ivy bridge. Currently i'm thinking:-

a. Should i just upgrade the mobo to rampage iv extreme

b. Get myself 4770k and a maximus vi extreme

What do you think? Any advise will be appreciated.

There isn't an awful lot of point moving from Sandy Bridge-E to Haswell. There isn't really enough of a performance increase to spend money and your current system should last you another few years with the addition of a graphics card update every 18 or so months. That said Haswell isn't the best of a platform to upgrade to, it has many issues and really isn't worth the money at the moment, unless you're looking for a completely new build, coming from a very old system.

Yeah, wait for Ivy Bridge-E. all you'll have to do is change out the CPU.

Setup: i5 4670k @ 4.2 Ghz, Corsair H100i Cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB Ram @ 1600 Mhz, MSI Z87-GD65 Motherboard, Corsair GS700 2013 edition PSU, MSI GTX 770 Lightning, Samsung EVO 120 SSD + 2TB&1TB Seagate Barracudas, BenQ XL2411T Monitor, Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones + AntLion ModMic 4.0

a. Should i just upgrade the mobo to rampage iv extreme

No, this will only benefit overclocking, motherboards have close to no impact on gaming performance.

b. Get myself 4770k and a maximus vi extreme

You won't see much of an improvement. And the Maximus VI Extreme is a horrible piece of shit mobo...

What is it with all this ROG fanboyism tz tz tz ^^

Stay with what you got, no point in changing, not even to IVY-E will not be an actual improvement especially for gaming.

Frost upon these cigarettes.... lipstick on the window pane...
