If you live near a microcenter. The 5820k is $299, only $20 more than an 4790k. And a budget X99 board from Asrock is $160 after rebate. DDR4 ram is also near the same price per GB ddr3 was a year ago. It gets really annoying when people say that X99 is expensive when Skylake is much more expensive than X99 and Z97 is only a little cheaper.

Current PC: Origin Millennium- i7 5820K @4.0GHz | GTX 980Ti SLI | X99 Deluxe

Why do you need a budget x99 ? Why not get an 4790k?

Cause it's very similar pricing.

Exactly I've had this discussion numerous times already and it was exactly what I did.
