tezza192

My E-tailer has a firesale on old stock of the MSI GTX 780 gaming editions, I can pick one up for £160. Is this still a decent card, Ill be using it in an HTPC on a 1080p TV.

Yes, it's similar in performance to a 970 with less of vRAM.

For 1080p it's a cakewalk in ANY title.

Will smash current games at 1080p.

And next years games no doubt,.., will be aces too, will fare better on a 980 than anything below it, so why not :)

You're really gonna get a GTX 780 for an HTPC.

Maxed out games, still a thing last time I checked...
I have the Itx 970 in my HTPC for my 1080p TV, hardly gets used, but when it does, can play anything.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Yes, a 780 is still a fantastic card. If the card is brand new in box £160 is a good price.  However if you wanted to look at another option the 780 Ti used sells from anywhere between 200 and 250.

edit: NEW 780 Ti MSI Gaming for £230

If it's £160, why not? It's still great at 1080p.
