Getting Kicked off School Wifi

JoshK

My school has a private network and a public network which doesn't work. The private networks passwords has made its rounds around the school and they have started kicking people off the network and you can't get back on, it just says incorrect password. I know they didn't change the password because some people's phones are on it but some peoples phones aren't. Is there anyway to combat this?

Does everyone have the same password?

Get a different phone/device?

Looks like they are blocking devices by Mac Address or IP address or maybe even device name.

I doubt its IP though, unless they have that many open IPs on their network.

And I work tech support at a uni and hate little shits that do this stuff.

Chances are that they blocked your computer outright, as this is quite simple to do.

Yes everyone has the same password. I believe it's the device name although I could be wrong. I change my phones name and resetted network settings, that didn't work and I didn't really expect it to. We all have school issued iPads and those aren't getting kicked off

Just deal with it while at school. Sometimes you just have to deal without having the internet.

Similar happens at my school. Some people can connect, but some just time out connecting. On my older phone it worked at first and then it didn't, but when I got my LG it started working fine again. Doesn't work for my friend tho.

I guess you could hack in to the network and do something there, but it's pointless, really.

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. I interned with my school's IT department. I can tell you from experience that they can see the name of every device on their network and easily kick people off.

Most likely a MAC filter. Anyways. I wouldn't want to mess with it. They Probably did this for security.
