Cutting down sim card

Go to solution Solved by Samfisher,

Would this work?

I just got my SIM cut for my S6 Edge, from Micro to Nano.  Lemme check.

EDIT : Crap, looks like I threw it out already, so I can't confirm which sides of the sim get cut.

EDIT 2 : FOUND IT.  Lemme check

@dark_xzyph3r

Found my older Micro sim, that was cut into a Nano.  This is with the SIM and the remaining plastic that was cut.  Notice the edges of the chip that are cut.  SIM still works and your SIM looks to be the same proportionate size between chip and plastic.

Hey guys I am wanting to switch from my shitty LG Lucid 3 to my old iPhone 5S would it be possible to sit down my sim card and use it? The sim card size is one size bigger than the iPhone size (I think nano sim is the iPhone sim size) they were on the same carrier but not the same acct on that carrier, I have swapped sims out iPhone to iPhone for my sister and it has always worked so I'm thinking from android to iPhone would work but I don't want to damage the sim card and not be able to use my phone.. Thanks.

Tldr: I am wanting to know if it is possible to cut down my Android sim and shove it into an iPhone.

You can cut mini sim to micro sim. Nano sim is a tiiiiny bit slimmer so it might get stuck and you might need to sand it.

But changing sim card takes like 5 seconds in your carriers store, so I don't really see a reason to do it, not to mention if you take a new nano sim card you get all of the adapters to scale up and down for next time you need them.

Depends on the size of the chip.  Newer SIM cards (about 2-4 years) have the newer chips that were made to be compatible with the nano when Apple went that route.  Any older than that and the chip is physically larger and cutting it down to size will kill it.

Yeah, should be. Heard older sim cards don't have this capability but the newer ones those

Some even newer sim cards already have the grooves to pop it out, other need to be cut.

You can cut regular sim to Micro sim, but you cant cut regular-sim or Micro-sim to Nano-sim. It might work If you sand It, but nano-sim-cards also have a smaller chip, so you'd better get a new one.

Alright, cool. Now time to get a home button for my 5s and I'll be good to go. I'll order another sim just in case.

So I cut mine last night with scissors and it is such a messy cut but it works in my iPhone 5S I cut the corner of a bit too much but still works. Heart dropped when I saw "Insert SIM" but I just rebooted and it recognized it and set if up.

Hahaha, why didn't you just go to a telco shop and get it cut there? :P
