Recommended fans for the H440?

i am planning on getting the corsair AF 140mm fans for the exhaust but i am not sure what types of fan should i put for the top and front panels.

should i go 3 x 120mm fans or 2 x 140mm fans for both?

i do plan on doing what Linus did on the 550D, 1 SP and 1 AF 140mm fans for the front panels and 2 SP 140mm fans for the top panels.

No need to ever use the top vents for fans alone, normally used for radiators instead.

Generally use 1/2 fans at the front and bottom and a exhaust at the back. Try to make sure that you use dust filters if your case doesn't already have them installed/included.

oh ok, i am not planning on doing watercooling at the moment though, low budge hahahaha.

so it is better to leave the H440 top panels without any fans then?

The H440 do have the provided FN V2 fans, 3 120mm at the front and 1 FN V2 140mm as the exhaust.

Top exhaust fans may help but it might not help enough to warrant spending more for fans.

What's the reason behind replacing the fans?

The main reason is that i am not sure if the front fans will draw enough air for the H440 considering the ventilation for front panel is quite small.

I have been checking the forums and found out at static pressure fans is better at drawing air through the small ventilation.

that is why i am considering getting the three 120mm Noctua NF-F12 for the front panels.

What are the system specs? The stock configuration H440 provides a decent amount of cooling as is and the FN V2 fans have appropriate static pressure.

My Specs:

  • CPU: i5-3450k 3.1 GHz (Old)
  • GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 4GB (New)
  • RAM: 8GB DDR3 @1600MHz (Old)
  • Motherboard: Asus P8H77M_LE (Old)
  • Primary Drive: Samsung Evo 500GB SSD (New)
  • Secondary: WD 1TB (Old)
  • PSU: Seasonic X-Series 650W (New)

The ones that is marked new are the ones that i am getting for the upgrade. For PSU, probably Seasonic X-Series or EVGA G2.

The stock fans should be fine. You can always upgrade later if you think otherwise.
