Help me choose a processor....

Go to solution Solved by Analog,

From these two the 6700K. It will be cheaper and will perform as good if not better compared to 5820K, since it has a higher stock clock. Nevertheless, if all you really want to do is just game and general day-to-day stuff, you can easily save some money and buy the i5 6600K, because almost all games only utilize up to 4 cores and hyperthreading isn't really going to add to the gaming performance of your rig. You can easily save those extra 100-150$ and spend them instead on an i7 on a better graphics card.

Hi, My name is Ankit Ghag, am from India, and soon am planning to upgrade my PC from head to toe and am currently stuck on which processor should I be buying. My options are the latest skylake i7 6700K or the i7 5820K. I will be using my PC mainly for Gaming. Which one amongst these will be suitable for my need?

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Get the 6600k. Games don't take advantage of the extra threads, but they do take advantage of more powerful gpus. The key to getting the most out of a gaming pc is knowing how to spend your money.

Putting more than you have to in the cpu means you're spending less on the gpu, and games care a whole lot more about what gpu you have than what cpu you have.

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB
