TN or IPS

Ghostay
Go to solution Solved by ThinkWithPortals,

Are you able to make me a build that can run IPS 1440P at 60HZ at around high-ultra, the budget is £1040. I don't know if this is plausable?

Here's what I came up with. Good build with a good upgrade path that should be good for your requirements. Nice 1440p monitor thrown in too.

PS: Build is black and red, hope this is ok.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£142.25 @ CCL Computers)
Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty H97 Killer ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (£87.49 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Sandisk SSD PLUS 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  (£54.29 @ Scan.co.uk)
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 390X 8GB Video Card  (£339.95 @ More Computers)
Case: NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  (£58.60 @ Aria PC)
Monitor: AOC Q2770PQU 60Hz 27.0" Monitor  (£299.95 @ CCL Computers)

Is it worth getting a 60HZ IPS or should I stick with buying a TN 144HZ?

Thanks.

That's totally up to you. Do you want better color or a higher refresh rate?

IPS - I cannot describe how much better they are. I went from a TN panel to an IPS and have 0 eye fatigue since then

I personally don't find IPS to be that much of a difference, as long as the TN panel isn't super horrible. Go for the TN 144 Hz, but read reviews first to make sure the color is tolerable.

IPS all the way. The difference between IPS and TN for me at least is night and day. Words cannot express how much better IPS is.

IPS. No further questions.

*EDIT* I admit there may be some good TN panels, but in all my experience, I have never seen one.

you CAN always run the monitor at a reduced resolution if the card cannot handle it. My 390x handles my brothers 1440p 144hz monitor flawlessly. It might be a question to ask the forums, because I havent built anything newer than sandy bridge.
