4K vs 144Hz vs IPS

Le_Doken

Looking at a lot of people having difficulties in deciding what to go on a display (4K, 144hz & IPS) I'm curious and I think It'd help to know what everyone in here thinks is better

1440p 144hz IPS

1440p = no scaling issues and easier to drive at high fps

144hz = sexy smoothness

IPS = sexy colours and viewing angles

Easy choice. Unless you are on a tight budget and need something cheaper, it is unanimous that this is the way to go!

4k 144hz. I find some TN panels to look just fine, even compared to IPS panels

If its LCD (any type), I say no.

Now if u were to ask 4k vs 144hz OLED. Then I'd have to vote 4k or both.

I'd also add 21:9 and G-Sync/Free-Sync as well as a size (for me that's 42"-46" at 21:9)

Alass VDU manufacturers are still enjoying milking people using LCD tech, so OLED is taking its time.

Sooo what monitor is 4k and 144Hz? And TN does not mean crappy quality, there are various panel grades.

None exist as of yet, but OP just said "or a mix of two of them", and I mixed two of them. Thats all =)

It's true :o It would be like playing Witcher 3 on a 750 Ti @ 4K then getting a 980 Ti and realizing the difference :P

Bullshit.

Nah he's right, if you've got the rig and the games to truly experience 144hz than you'll see that it's a completely diffrent experience :D

I made the switch last year. Truthfully, unless you're playing competitively at a very high proficiency; it's a big waste of money! Plus, 144hz is only beneficial when playing fast paced twitch shooters anyway. That's why I stuck around with my crt for a very long time when I use to play competitive cs. Until about 2009, you could only find lcds with a maximum refresh rate of 75hz.

My priorities have changed and I much prefer the contrast, color accuracy and black levels IPS displays provide. If you play a bunch of different genres and you watch movies, it's pretty obvious what you should choose.

That I can't argue, fast paced shooters is where you see 144hz at full capacity

Why not get IPS + 144Hz? It does exist ;D

I think 144hz in games like gta5 and witcher 3 is totally worth it the image quality when moving the camera is far superior to 60fps

And you get so much more into the game it's like looking through a window

AMD (and proud) r7 1700 4ghz-

also (1600)

asus rog crosshairs vi hero x370-

MSI 980ti G6 1506mhz slix2 -

Lol. Whatever, dude. You're stating your opinion and that's fine. However, facts, the many reviews and the overwhelming majority will disagree with you here. There's absolutely no way in hell a shitty tn panel can look better than an ips panel.

Why do you keep mentioning TN panels? Just curious because we've had IPS and PLS panels for a while now that do 110+, 144Hz does not mean TN :/
