I read jonney guru review for the CX 400w Bronze psu, and he highly recommend it. Since there was no review for the 500w it self, I thought it would be like the 400w so I bought it and it in the mail right now.

However from the forum people are saying that there two totally different psu's. The 400w has good Seasonic OEM's, but the 500w supposedly has OEM from a company that I never have heard before.

So sould I Return it to Drirectcanada and get a better psu because I don't want to kill my pc am doing, which is a FX-3600 and R9 380 for gaming....

Yep, return it with the hardware you have :) Antec's High Current Gamer would be a great option for a similar price.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

It's barely any better than the CX series.

What about the EVGA GS/B2/G2?

This system isnt for me, but a friend. So am not the one with the money. Can you go to pcpartpicker.com set your Region to Canada and pick a good PSU thats $82 with %5 GST. Because thats what I payed for the CX 500. Via DirectCanada.

Fuck psu are hard to shop for.

Couple options:

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/antec-power-supply-hcg400m - little low on the wattage factor for what I would throw in an AMD system but it should have no trouble if you stick with one GPU

My recommendation is the Antec Earthwatts 550w Green (newer model). It's a DC-DC regulated power supply made by Delta Electronics. It's a solid budget unit for $69.99 after MIR.

Here's a review on the 650w (VPF650 is Earthwatts Green in the NA) : http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/antec-vpf-650w-power-supply,4232.html

However should I really do it? Would the CX 500 due for now I really do not want to go through the hassle. There will be no OC'ing just standard gaming, like GTA V, CS:GO, etc.

CX will crash and burn. It's meant for i3s and USB printers. Not a gaming rig. When you start gaming and your case heats up a bit it will go from a 500W PSU to a 300W PSU, overload and shut down or catch fire.

So doing my frist build I order a CX 500W for a gaming rig that am doing for a friend. It's in the mail atm and I just found out how bad it is. So order a SeaSonic S12II and I hope DirectCanada is sympathetic and doesn't make me pay for shipping on a return. Oh frist world problems.

Some areas will throw the parcel away. I'm not even joking, they have like 3 months before they throw kind of policy. Check first before refusing!

The rest of my parts are within the shipment with the CX so fuck refusing. You can get the full price back for the PSU for DC's return if you don't open it, however I'm not sure if you have to pay for shipping back...

Why not just keep the CX and use it for something else later down the road?

Replacement for a prebuilt PC?

Homemade bomb?

Science stuff?

It can be useful to have a powersupply laying around.
