Why do we keep making smaller sim cards?

Go to solution Solved by Syntaxvgm,

Today I learned that indeed they are just different sizes and would otherwise be inter-compatible. You can get adapter brackets. Didn't want to wait for that in the mail, need a working phone now. Cut one from an old gas station gift card. Works.

This phone is super jank but I know it will work reliably. Unless of course it's the sim card itself causing the issue, entirely possible. Will head into Verizon store when opportunity arises.

I seriously want to know...I mean my 2nd new replacement phone from Verizon is on a perma-fucked restart loop again, so I'm like, that's cool, I'll switch to my backup phone, it's got's that smaller sim card-

nope lol forgot nano sim was a thing. Because micro wasn't small enough

Now I need a new backup phone as well...what the fuck

Something has to give way for bigger batteries that we're all clamoring for.

except we're not putting in bigger batteries in our phones tho

but the damn moto x I have is a lot better as far as sipping battery than that phone in the picture. I swear it's made by VW not LG

So get this- pulling out my sim card on the moto x stops the restart loops.....fucked sim card?

Well, the bigger sim cards just have more unnecessary plastic so you might as well minimize the amount of useless plastic and use that for something else- it's also kinda like how sd cards are unnecessarily big compared to micro sd cards. You can get an adapter or if you insert the nano sim onto the contacts directly, it'll work fine.

Well it's not like they're making sim cards smaller just to create empty space to spite you lol. Batteries were just an example.

Well lets be honest we don't really need them at all. Why can't you just buy a phone and then in the menu search for providers and then see a list of them all, choose one and drill down into the package you want and then go from there. The concept of them sending a little chip in the post to identify you is so 1980s.

because anything in america that provides data or communication is controlled by oligopolies.
