GTA V has been stuttering like mad, especially when driving. My cpu temps are between 60-70c and Gpu 55-70c, any tips on how to fix this?

It may be the new driver, Ive been hearing of all sorts of frame issues happening with it.

yep that's why I don't update unless I have issues

I'm getting a lot of stuttering but only when i open the map and go through the pause/start menu options, very strange.

Same Here!

couple things to try

-turn off steam (or origin?) overlay

-disable self/custom radio (causes fps dips)

-possibly change some graphics settings

-defrag hdd (one of the things i did before game become buttery smooth

How do I defrag HDD :P Im a noob.

What are your settings like? I run a 4690k and a 970 and always get solid 60 on very high-ultra settings

I play on High Settings, And my specs are in the sig.

Have you tried reinstalling drivers? My friend had really bad stuttering in GTA V but all his other games were fine... we just uninstalled his drivers, used DDU to remove all leftover registry stuff, and then installed drivers fresh... no more stuttering.

Whats DDU?

http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Use it (after booting into Safe Mode) after uninstalling GPU drivers... it removes the registry keys, temporary files etc. left behind by Nvidia/AMD drivers since uninstalling them doesn't remove everything

go to windows search bar, type defrag should show up  there

do not defrag your ssd though

also, changing my page file is another thing i did before my gta got buttery smooth

system properties > advanced > performance settings > advanced

(i personally use my ssd for my page file exclusively, size i chose was 1.5x total ram for minimum and 2.5x total ram maximum)

Maybe go read a guide that goes through the settings and shows the heavy CPU/GPU hitters, to which you can tune...

Are your advanced settings (in game) off or turned down (tuned)? (Also try turning grass to V-High, Not Ultra)

Doing this, GPU usage was at a constant 98-100%, whereas before, 80'ish-variable-100%

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
