Hey, I'm just wondering if there are any kind people on this forum who built their own pc and bought a retail key (which you can install on multiple pc's) and if I could use one since I already went over my budget and I don't like the idea of pirating an OS.. Thanks in advance [emoji5]

Windows keys are quite expensive to give away. You can download and install Ubuntu or any other Linux Distro until you have the funds for a Windows License.

I was under the impression that a key can only be used on one computer at a time. Hm.

Not retail keys. They are used for computer displays at stores like BestBuy, so the store doesn't have to purchase 50 copies of Windows in order to demonstrate new hardware.

EDIT: However, each computer must be individually registered despite the valid key. It won't work for you.

Retail as in sold in retail stores, not used in such stores.

Nope. Windows keys are not to be given away, and retail keys can be trasnferred, to used at the same time.

use a generic key they are provided by microsoft just google them, it will allow you to install windows legally but you can't activate it so you won't be able to recieve any updates which are very critical specially for exploits in the system

I'm pretty sure giving away Windows keys on here is against the CoC, so you can either use an unlicensed copy of Windows, and bear with it's shortcomings, or install Linux, until you can afford the key for Windows. Talking about Piracy is definitely against the code, so I won't.

Eeh, by gum.
