New Headset (£250/$450)

SwiiftYz

I'm looking to replace my Astro A40 headset with something either similar or better sound wise.

I do pretty much everything with this headset from listening to music, watching movies, playing games and even recording stuff for YouTube/Podcasts.

Currently I have the headset plugged into to the A40 MixAmp so whatever headset I get, would need to have a 3.5mm jack rather than USB connection.

Can anyone help me out at all? I've not looked at headsets in years and don't really know my stuff when it comes to them.

The main use would be gaming.

Thanks in advanced for any replies!

COUGH

MMX300 - especially if you want the amazing mic this thing has - you could also get some DT770s and a Blue yeti or a mod mic (or something similar)

A good pair of headphones and a separate stand alone mic would be good.

Headphones like the ath m40s/50s + a blue snowball/yeti

-snip-

Have you also tried the Sennheisser gaming headsets? Their microphones are really great aswell. But I wonder if they are as great as the one on the MMX300.

Well you wrote "headset" not headphones.....which implies you needed a microphone ><

DT880s are £180

Sennhesier HD650s are £239

Philips Fidelio X2 are £230

Personally I would go (and have gone) for the Sennheiser HD650. I have absolutely no regrets, they blow me away every time I put them on.

Yeah, that was my bad - sorry. I've only recently got myself a separate microphone so I'm used to saying headset.

Gonna check out the DT880's as I've heard the HD650 aren't very good for gaming?

I would not say they are not very good, they are VERY good headphones and are great if you use your computer for all around use, gaming, music, videos, movies etc etc etc

its your choice between closed and open etc

Assuming you mean the DT880's aren't very good?

Struggling to find the HD650 cheaper than £275 at the minute.

Are the V-Moda M100 Crossfade any good?

I was referring to the HD650s being very good - the 880s are good also :) all the ones I recommended I would happily buy myself

they are £239 on amazon

Crossfades are good, I know a few people that use them (TB uses them too) - one bonus is they are very slim so good to wear around in public

Okay, thanks for the quick replies.

I'm gonna try and decide between the V-Moda & HD650 then. I hate being an Audiophile at times.

I would love to but living in the middle of no where makes that nearly impossible. A lot of YouTubers seem to own the Modas but also some variant of the Sennhesiers as well.

I would buy the 650s given the choice, but that is just my own opinion :)
