Hey, I was looking at grabbing an R9 380 as an upgrade from an HD6850 as a way to get games playable again until I build a new system in a few months time. I was wondering how badly would an R9 380 be bottlenecked by an AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition oced to 3.6Ghz. If the card would be bottlenecked badly, then I'll just wait for the new system.

I'd be surprised if it bottlenecked at all in most games

My 390 was barely bottlenecked by my old i5 760 at 3.7ghz, the i5 is faster than the Phenom II ofc, but not massively.

It should be fine.

Hey thanks, I'm still not sure if my CPU will bottleneck the R9 380 though. I would ask for proof but I very much doubt someone has benchmarked the card using an Phenom 955 BE.

Phenom is still a solid CPU. it should be no problem in most games.
