CX+GTX?

I just got a reference gtx 980 for $300. and i wanted to know if i could use a CX430m to power it. it has an 8 pin and the card has 2 6 pins. so could i get an 8 pin to dual 6 pin adapter or should i use a dual molex to 6pin?

No you could not, it's a fire hazard and even the wattage is not enough

CX + anything above an i3 and USB printer = toaster

I personally recommend EVGA PSU's since their customer service isn't a pain (they're like angels) to deal with. I'm not sure about other brands.

 

I know EVGA has some good Gold rated PSU's for good prices.

SeaSonic are the same - if the PSU is so much as hearable from 1m away they will RMA

lol my older brother uses a 4790k and 980ti (amp extreme) on a CX750M. Aduquiet cooling is what matters. However I don't recommend using the CX PSU's in a system that draws that much power. I mean at least not a CX430 with a 980.

And I've seen a Rexpower and Terminal Power PSUs rated at peak wattage rather than continuous last for 8 years. It's silicon lottery friend :P
