Item cost has no effect on shipping cost. Weight, size and distance do however.

Unless you're trying to get something shipped to where you are over an extremely long distance plus import fees, you may be buying from a retailer that sells through Amazon who has extremely high shipping costs, which is where they get you.

Anti static wrist bands are overrated. You really don't need one. Just touch a big metal thing once in a while.

Though not wearing socks while on carpet, and touching some metal would be a cheaper option.
