So I'm trying to install Windows 10 on a brand new pc that I built today. The installation process is stuck at "Getting files ready for installation" at 87%. The cursor is also frozen. It's been like this for 20 mins. Is this normal? Should I reboot and repeat the installation process or should I just wait?

upgrades are never recommended and it WARNS you to back up your data. So it's your and your fault alone. Like always.

I'm using a USB

I would try again, or check if your ISO is intact because you might be waiting forever.

Well that's not a big deal just a failed install. Like that doesn't happen to other OS's.  <_<

it corrupted my hard drive as it caused my hard drive to get bad sectors

Well that's something completely different then isn't it? Corrupted hard drive could mean just ruined data. Bad sectors is a broken hard drive. Also doesn't quite feel like it was the OS's fault.

hah. After every release of any windows OS there will be posts like that. That's why OS's are updated.
