Apple wants games to fully support the Siri remote

Apparently, Apple is requiring app/game developers to have their apps/games fully support the Apple TV remote. I don't plan to buy it, but some here might. I find kinda silly.

 

 

 

Your game must support the Apple TV remote. Your game may not require the use of a controller.

 

I confirmed by looking at the "App Programming Guide for tvOS", which is also the "Source 2" link.

I think it makes sense.

 

Not everybody will want to go out and purchase a new controller just for a new game they happened to download.

 

Better chance of getting more downloads if you don't need a separate controller.

I get the point why they'd want to do so but, this is the remote. I don't know exactly how games can be played through that.

Not to be rude, but did you see what Linus said about the new Apple TV?  He said it was(no offense) codswally yes he actually said that.  He said you can get a Shield TV for cheaper, and with that you could stream your games(since you have an Nvidia GPU) too with ease!  It is more powerful, has a controller and is all around a better product.  But if you prefer Apple products I ain't gonna hate...

 

 

I have a shield portable so I can do game streaming from my PC and android gaming.emulators etc, not too interested in the shield TV, I actually really like the Apple TV, I use mine every day especially works amazingly will airplay from my iPhone and iPad

 

I also buy all my music and movies through iTunes

if you hold the remote sideways you have a touch pad that could emulate a joystick and then 2 buttons (the plus and minus) could be used for context, not alot of inputs but enough for some games.
