Inexpensive mic help needed

So my friends and I are wanting to get into short movie making. Currently we are working on getting all the equipment we need. For the most part we have everything picked out except audio. I'm already going to get a Rode Videomic pro, however, I've also been looking at getting a couple lav mics. We are on budget constraints so we cant just shill out $600 for a set. What would a good route to take be?

 

My second semi-relevant question is: should I get a external audio recorder such as a Zoom H5(out of budget)? If so which one: Tascam DR-40, Zoom H1, TASCAM DR-05, or perhaps another similarly priced product? Or is it just a waste of money?
